The Liaison Committee is working hard to ensure that its role as a channel of information between the community and the CEZinc refinery is effective.

1- Familiarization with the activities of the CEZinc refinery

  • Tour of the jarosite basins and presentation of the basin restoration programme

  • Explanation of how the Jarofix process works

  • Briefing on the laws and regulations governing the company's activities

2- Discussions with CEZinc about its activities

  • Work in progress at the plant

  • Risks associated with exposure to chlorine and sulphuric acid

  • Risks associated with handling zinc and cadmium

  • CEZinc's Occupational Health and Safety Management System

  • Incidents and accidents at the plant

  • Citizens' complaints forwarded to the company

3- Communication activities

  • Establishment of communication tools

  • Organisation of a press conference to publicly announce the existence of the Liaison Committee

  • Participation in open days organised by CEZinc for its neighbours

The members of the Liaison Committee are committed to keeping the people of Valleyfield properly informed about the activities of the plant that may affect their quality of life.
